Welcome to the home page of Hugh Edwards, Western Australia’s noted author, adventurer and historian.
On
these pages, you will find accurate and factual information on some of the diverse and fascinating historical events, shipwreck discoveries, and dangerous creatures of the deeps — such as the Great white shark — found in Australia. Hugh has written 28 books from documenting facts that represent the work of decades of research and practical adventure. Not content with assembling the facts from libraries he goes to the actual places where events occurred and places himself in the shoes of the pirates, explorers, and people who made history in their own time.
In this way he brings history to the level of human experience placing the reader in the centre of the adventure and having them live the experience themselves in a personal sense. Hugh has done it all, from diving on wrecks, salvaging historic equipment and and raising cannons, coins, and navigation instruments, artifacts now on display in museums. In the 1960′s he found the sword-hacked skeletons of victims of the 1629 Batavia mutiny in shallow coral graves where they had lain for 334 years. History doesn’t get more personal than that!
From the discovery of the Batavia to the legends and myths of some of Australia’s most dangerous but intriguing creatures, Hugh has made himself a household name to his fans. Travel with him across and around a continent that has deserts, tropical rainforests and over 6000 kilometres of beaches where 200 years of exploration and discovery have left permanent records for study.
